Whoa! I'm not really a fan of Sterling Gates, I don't think I've read anything of his, but...damn, I want to now. Seriously, read the article. He says, "[Prometheus has] been sort of sullied, for lack of a better word, and eventually forgotten in the years since his appearances in Grant Morrison’s JLA issues," and later gives an example, "he went from being this powerhouse villain worthy of being on Lex Luthor's Injustice League, to being the guy that Huntress can beat up over in Birds of Prey."
Frankly, I'm willing to give him a chance based off his acknowledging that the usage of Prometheus in BOP was not the best use of him. (For full disclosure, I've never read those issues, but I have seen scans and read synopses online, which basically describe the fight as Promethus taking out Shiva and then losing because Huntress whomped him over the head.)
Also, while I do realize Prometheus is something of a Mary-Sue-jobber-monkey, I like the guy. I sort of see him as being the Rod to Deedee's Rodney McKay. Sure Prometheus is better at the serious, adventure side of his chosen profession, but blonds named Jennifer prefer Doctor Developer. Or something like that!
Any how, I keep saying once DC cancels Blue Beetle I'm getting away from them, but now...I kind of want to see what Sterling Gates has in mind. |
