Any particular target this time, or just free-floating aggression?
Target: my own longing to be a Querl Dox fan.

It strikes me that the whole DVD message thing started from "Hey, wouldn't it be neat to use heat vision to burn a DVD?" and wrote a story around that, rather than starting from "How do I get a message in a bottle back in time?" It's a big problem with stereotypical tech-driven sci-fi...the tech widget gimmick is all that's important, any excuse to use it will do. After all, it's not whether Querl CAN hypnotize Supergirl into being a DVD-burner that's your problem...it's the question of why he'd bother.
Writers will sometimes go to extremes to use that nifty plot device they thought up.

Which normally I encourage, and by "encourage" I mean "read books by Warren Eliis."
Oh, oh, can you resend that Facebook invite to tuglyraisin[at)gmail(dot]com...or tell me which address and I'll search for you.?
Exactly my point. Sheer elegance in its simplicity. | |
